Basford United F.C. is an English football club based in Basford, a suburb of Nottingham, currently playing in the Northern Premier League Division One South.

History

Basford United was formed in 1900 and have played their football in the Nottinghamshire leagues throughout most of their history. The team competed in the FA Cup in the middle of the last century but never progressed further than the second qualifying round.[1][2] The club played in the Nottinghamshire Senior League until they joined the Central Midlands League South Division in 2010, winning the league in their first season and earning promotion to the East Midlands Counties League. They repeated the feat the following year becoming the first club to perform the double of winning the East Midlands Counties League and League Cup. This earned them promotion to the Northern Counties East League.

In July 2014 they moved to the newly formed Midland League Premier Division, in which they ended the 2014–15 season as champions, seeing them promoted to the Northern Premier League.[3]
