Summary
A <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/hanging" class="extiw" title="en:hanging">hanging</a> noose used at public executions which took place at the rear of <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lancaster_Castle" class="extiw" title="en:Lancaster Castle">Lancaster Castle</a> during the reign of <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_IV_of_the_United_Kingdom" class="extiw" title="en:William IV of the United Kingdom">King William IV</a> circa 1820 - 1830. The noose has a heavy-duty metal hook at one end. Adjacent to the noose is an original invoice relating to costs incurred (One pound, 10 shillings and 8 pence) during the execution of John Heyes on 6 September 1834.
