The Wise Dan Handicap, formerly known as the Firecracker Handicap,[2] is an American thoroughbred horse race run annually on the turf course at Churchill Downs.
The Grade II event is open to horses, age three and up, willing to race one and one sixteenth of a mile and currently offers a purse of $200,000.
The race was renamed to the Wise Dan Handicap in 2016 in honor of thoroughbred Wise Dan. It was changed from 8 furlongs to 8.5 furlongs at the same time.[2]
