Étienne Couvert (30 July 1927 – 30 March 2024) was a French historian of religion and educator, teacher of classical languages and a specialist in the study of gnosis.

Biography

Étienne Couvert was born at the 4th arrondissement of Lyon. Couvert taught classics in the same city for almost 40 years. He specialised in the study of Christian philosophy (Thomism in particular) and religious history.

Since 1983, he wrote a number of books on gnosis, including a new look at the origins of Islam and Buddhism, which he developed in other articles.

A member of the Association of French-speaking Catholic writers, he took part in the Salon of French-speaking Catholic Writers until 2012.
