The German name of Štiavnické Bane is Siegelsberg and its Hungarian name is Hegybánya. Archaic names of the town include Pergh (German), Pjerg (Hungarian), and Piarg (Slovak).
Famous people
Štiavnické Bane was the birthplace of the 18th century astronomer Maximilian Hell and the controversial World War II politician Vojtech Tuka.
