The 1998–99 Charlotte Hornets season was Charlotte's eleventh season in the National Basketball Association.[1] The Hornets finished the season, which was shortened due to a lockout, with a 26–24 record. After a disappointing 4–11 start to the season, head coach Dave Cowens was replaced by Paul Silas, who led the team ta a 22–13 record to end the season. They also sent Glen Rice, J.R. Reid, and B.J. Armstrong to the Los Angeles Lakers for Eddie Jones, and Elden Campbell. Despite this, the Hornets failed to qualify for the playoffs for the first time since the 1995–96 season. The Hornets finished sixth the NBA in attendance for the season.
