Aonyx is a genus of otters, containing two species, the African clawless otter and the Cameroon clawless otter. Sometimes even the Oriental small-clawed otter, Amblonyx cinerea is counted in this genus. The word 'Aonyx' means 'clawless', derived from the prefix 'a-' (not) and 'onyx' (claw/hoof).
