History

Assumption University is a non-profit institution administered by the Brothers of St. Gabriel, a worldwide Catholic religious order, founded in France in 1705 by St. Louis Marie De Montfort, devoted to education and philanthropic activities. The congregation has been operating many educational institutions in Thailand since 1901.[2]

The university has a student body of about 19,870 including a fairly large complement of foreign students drawn from 75 countries of the world.[3]

Assumption University became an autonomous educational institution in 1969 when Assumption Commercial College (ACC) became the Assumption School of Business. In 1972 it became the Assumption Business Administration College (ABAC). In 1990 the college was granted university status by the Ministry of University Affairs and took the name of Assumption University (AU).
