Balen (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈbaːlə(n)]) is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Antwerp. The municipality comprises the towns of Balen proper and Olmen. On 1 January 2011 Balen had a total population of 21,305. The total area is 72.88 km², giving a population density of 283 inhabitants per km².
