Brian Patrick Stelter (born c. 1985) is an American far-left political commentator and is the chief media correspondent for CNN and host of the CNN show Reliable Sources. Previously he was a media reporter for The New York Times and the editor of TVNewser.
Life and career

Stelter was born on September 3, 1985,[1] in Damascus, Maryland, the son of Donna and Mark Stelter.[2] He attended Damascus High School, graduating in 2003,[3] followed by Towson University where he served as editor-in-chief of The Towerlight from 2005 to 2007. While still a student, he created TVNewser, a blog about television and cable news which he later sold to Mediabistro.[citation needed] He graduated from Towson in May 2007, and joined The New York Times as a media reporter later in July of that year, aged 22.[4]
In November 2013, he became the new host of CNN's Reliable Sources[5] and also chief media correspondent.[6]
Personal life
Stelter dated CNBC anchor Nicole Lapin in 2011.[7] He stated he had to inform his editor of the relationship, and he agreed not to cover CNBC while they were dating.[8]
On February 22, 2014, he married Jamie Shupak[2] in a Jewish ceremony.[9] His wife is a traffic anchor for New York TV station NY1.[10][11]
Stelter was raised Methodist, and is non-religious.[12] The couple plan to raise their children as Jewish.[12] On May 21, 2017, their daughter was born.[13] The Stelters live in the Lincoln Square, Manhattan neighborhood on the Upper West Side of Manhattan.[14]
