Brownlow is a locality in the Australian state of South Australia about Lua error in Module:Convert at line 272: attempt to index local 'cat' (a nil value). north-east of the Adelaide city centre[1][2]
Its boundaries were created for the “long established name” for the western part in August 2000 which is located within the Regional Council of Goyder and for the eastern part in March 2003 which is located within the Mid Murray Council. The name is reported as being derived from Field Marshal Sir Charles Henry Brownlow.[1]
The locality occupies the largest amount of land area within the cadastral unit of the Hundred of Brownlow which it shares with the localities of Bower, Mount Mary and Steinfeld. The Hundred of Brownlow covers an area of 340 square kilometres (131 sq mi), was proclaimed in 1883 by Governor Jervois and was named after Field Marshal Sir Charles Henry Brownlow.[7][1]
The principal land use within the locality is agriculture involving “extensive grazing.”[8][9]
Brownlow is located within the federal divisions of Barker and Grey, the state electoral district of Stuart and the local government areas of the Mid Murray Council and Regional Council of Goyder.[1][3][4][5]
