From Infogalactic: the planetary knowledge core
The East Riding of Yorkshire has three meanings, each covering a different area:
- It is a unitary authority. Articles about things in the area administered by the unitary authority should be placed in this category.
- It is a ceremonial county. For this purpose only it includes the city of Kingston upon Hull, which is also a unitary authority. The Kingston upon Hull category is included in the list of subcategories below.
- It was one of the three traditional Ridings of Yorkshire. The riding covered a larger area than either the unitary authority or the ceremonial county, but it is no longer an administrative unit. Articles relating to the historic riding are in Category:History of the East Riding of Yorkshire.
