Additional Societies

Members of Societies of Apostolic Life do not take religious vows (neither simple nor solemn) like religious orders and religious congregations. Instead they make promises or some similar form of commitment to their society. Some examples:

Pallottines - The Society of the Catholic Apostolate (S.A.C.) (founded by St. Vincent Pallotti)

Vincentians - The Congregation of the Mission (C.M.) (founded by St. Vincent de Paul)

Paulists - The Missionary Congregation of St. Paul the Apostle in the United States (C.S.P.) (founded by Isaac T. Hecker)

Jericho Benedictines - as British contemplative group which works mainly with alcoholics, drug addicts and homeless young men.
