Cynotilapia is a genus of fishes from the family Cichlidae. All fishes in these genus form part of the mbuna flock, the rock-dwelling fishes of Lake Malawi, in the rift valley of East Africa. All species are polygamous, maternal, ovophile mouthbrooders and carry their fry in this fashion for about 20–30 days.
Species
There are currently three recognized species in this genus:[1]
- Cynotilapia afra (Günther, 1894).
- Cynotilapia axelrodi W. E. Burgess, 1976.
- Cynotilapia pulpican Tawil, 2002.
