"Desde Esa Noche" (English: "Since That Night") is a song recorded by Mexican singer Thalía for her thirteenth upcoming studio album, Latina. Featuring vocals from Colombian reggaeton singer Maluma, the song was released as a digital single on January 29, 2016 through Sony Music Latin. It has received mostly positive reviews and has become a commercial success all over Latin America and the United States, where it peaked at number 16 on the Hot Latin Songs chart and number 5 on the Latin Pop Airplay chart, published by Billboard.

Background and release

The song was released a few months after the release of "Si Alguna Vez", a song recorded by Thalia as the main theme of the Mexican telenovela Antes muerta que Lichita. The previous week of the release, Thalia had announced through her social media that she would release new music. The song was received positively by both critics and fans.

Critical reception

The website FMBox commented that "Creative and bold, Thalia surprises us with an unexpected jewel that will function as an introduction to her upcoming album that is guaranteed to make everyone dance".[1] David Lopez from Miusyk wrote that "Thalía apuesta por la creatividad y el riesgo. Que una artista que no tiene nada que demostrar a estas alturas quiera seguir en esto ya es un hito" ("Thalía wagers creativity and risk. It's a milestone for an artist who has nothing left to prove to make this option"),[2] while the song received a very positive review by Cosmopolitan magazine.[3]

Music video

The music video of the song was directed by Carlos Perez in Chinatown, New York. The shooting of the video took place on February 4 and 5 and it was released on March 18, 2016.[4]

Live performances

Thalia and Maluma performed the song live for the first time in Premios Lo Nuestro awards, an event that took place in February 18, 2016. The video of the performance has surpassed 40 million views on YouTube, as of May 16.[5]
