Ekkees Toppon Ki Salaami (English translation: 21 Gun Salute) is a Hindi satire comedy film, directed by Ravindra Gautam, released on 10 October 2014.It has been produced by Abhinav Shukla under the banner of Nautanki Films.[1][2]

Plot

Two sons set out to get their father what he dreamt of all through his life –the ultimate sign of respect. High on thrill and laughter, this film takes the audience through the unbelievable attempt of Shekhar and Subhash Joshi to provide their father an Ekkees Toppon Ki Salaami (21 gun salute). Purushotam Joshi is a common man who fails to earn his bit of appreciation despite being completely honest during his life-long service as a government employee. Joshi’s sons are however willing to go the extra mile to get their father his only wish. But will they succeed in their endeavour?

Promotion

Shah Rukh Khan launched the trailer of the Ekkees Toppon Ki Salaami.[3] The song Tod De Kataar was launched in a special event next to the iconic The Common Man statue of RK Laxman, where common people were felicitated for their service to the society.[4] Neha Dhupia was roped into play role of the girlfriend of cm.

Tod De Kataar

Tod De Kataar was published on 9 September 2014 and is the first song from the movie Ekkees Toppon Ki Salaami. The singers of this song are Labh Janjua, Divya Kumar and Ram Sampath. The Music director is Ram Sampath. Sandeep Nath is the lyricist.[5]

Ghoor Ghoor ke

Ghoor Ghoor ke is another song from this film and was published on 17 September 2014. Sona Mohapatra is the singer and Ram Sampath is the music director. The lyrics have been written by Sandeep Nath.[6]

Hum Tumhe Kaise Bataye

Hum Tumhe Kaise Bataye was published on 25 September 2014. This is a Ghazal sung by Aman Trikha and Tarannum Mallik. Ram Sampath is the music director and Sandeep Nath is the lyricist.[7]

Critical reception

Ekkees Toppon Ki Salaami garnered mixed to negative reviews from the critics. Bollywood Hungama gave it 3/5 stars stating that "Ekkees Toppon Ki Salaami is a satirical attempt at today's commercial world that is interspersed with politics, power, greed and lust." Film critic Rajeev Masand gave it 2/5 stars calling it a "movie made with well intentions about the value of honesty. Promising but doesn't quite take the flight." India Today gave it 2/5 stars stating that, "If your idea of going for a film is to get entertained and have a good time, then this is not something you would want invest your time in."
