ExtendedancEPlay is a studio 12" EP by British rock band Dire Straits, released on 10 January 1983 by Vertigo Records internationally, and by Warner Bros. Records in the United States.[2] The extended play record contains three tracks on the international version, and four tracks on the United States version, adding the song "Badges, Posters, Stickers, T-Shirts", an outtake from the Love over Gold sessions. The EP is commonly called Twisting by the Pool, after the hit song of the same name on its first track.[1]
The EP consists entirely of upbeat tracks which have a rock and roll, jazz, and swing feel. It does not contain any examples of the relaxed tempo songs Dire Straits had been known for. It is the first release to feature drummer Terry Williams, who filled the spot after drummer Pick Withers left the group in August 1982. The track 'If I Had You' was never released on CD.
