Career stats

Fabio Filice is a former Canadian-born Canadian Football League guard who retired after the 2008 CFL season. Fabio played most of his career as an offensive lineman with his crowning achievement coming in 2008 when he won the Grey Cup with the Calgary Stampeders.

College

He played his University football at McMaster University. In 2000, he played in all eight games during his freshman season. In 2001, he played in seven games during the regular season. Filice was also named Second Team OUA All-Star. In 2002, he played in all eight games during the regular season and was a First Team OUA All-Star. In 2003, he played in all eight games during the regular season and was named Second Team All-Canadian and First Team OUA All-Star. He anchored an offensive line that provided the protection for two OUA All-Star running backs in Kyle Pyear and Jesse Lumsden. McMaster rushed for 2,807, the highest single season total in OUA history. In 2004, he started all eight games at offensive tackle. He was named both a first team All-Canadian and First Team OUA All-Star. He helped anchor an offensive line that generated a nation-leading 2,555 rushing yards, the second most in OUA history.

Was a member of four straight Yates Cup Championship teams.

2005

He was selected by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the second round (15th overall) in the CFL Canadian Draft. He missed the majority of the season with an injury. He made his CFL debut on July 10, 2005, in the Tiger-Cats 43-21 loss to the Ottawa Renegades, where he dressing as a Guard. He played Guard in the remaining four games, earning a start at Right Guard versus Montreal in the season finale.

2006

He played in all 18 games primarily as an offensive lineman and special teams player during his second season with Hamilton. He started 6 games at Right Guard with the Ti-Cats.

2007

He attended training camp with the Tiger-Cats and was released on June 24. He then signed as a free agent with the Toronto Argonauts on July 31, 2007.

2008

He won the Grey Cup championship with the Calgary Stampeders in 2008.

He retired from football in 2009.

Personal life

Fabio is the son of Cosimo and Grace Filice and has two younger brothers named Marcello and Roberto and one younger sister named Nadia. He is currently finishing his MBA in Finance at McMaster and is actively involved with the McMaster Children’s Hospital.
