The Foundation for Child Development is a national private foundation.
The mission of the Foundation for Child Development is to harness the power of research to ensure that all children benefit from early learning experiences that affirm their individual, family, and community assets, fortify them against harmful consequences arising from economic instability and social exclusion, and that strengthen their developmental potential.[1]

History and name
The organization began as a volunteer community project in 1899, then in 1908 was established as the Association for the Aid of Crippled Children.[2] The goal of the organization then was to support disabled children.[3] In 1972 the organization changed its name to the Foundation for Child Development.[2]
