In the United Kingdom, the term listed building refers to a building or other structure officially designated as being of "exceptional architectural or historic special interest"; Grade I structures are those considered to be "buildings of "exceptional interest, sometimes considered to be internationally important. Waveney is a local government district with its administrative headquarters at Lowestoft, that is also the main town in the district and the second in Suffolk. The other towns are Beccles, Bungay, Halesworth and Southwold. The number of inhabitants of the area is 117,300 with a density of 317 inhabitants per km². There are 57 civil parishes in the area, with Lowestoft being the only unparished area.
