Hang Tuah Stadium or Kubu Stadium (Malay: Stadium Hang Tuah) is a multi-use stadium in Malacca, Malaysia. It is currently used mostly for football matches and serves as the second home stadium to Malacca United S.A / Malacca FA.[1]

History

Hang Tuah Stadium is the oldest stadium in the state of Malacca. It was formerly known as the Fortress Stadium and was officially opened in 1954 by The Honourable Mr. G.E.C Wisdom. C.M.G. , which at that time was the President Commissioner of Malacca, President of the Municipal Council, and President of Malacca Stadium. At that time the stadium is under the management of Malacca Stadium Committee. On 31 August 2001, the name was eventually changed to Hang Tuah Stadium. The launching ceremony was made by His Excellency Syed Ahmad Syed Mahmud Shahabuddin, Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Malacca. Hang Tuah Stadium is managed by Historic Malacca City Council (MBMB) until 1 June 2005 prior to submission to the Malacca Stadium Corporation.[2]

Architecture

The stadium spans over an area of 6 acres and can hold up to 11,000 people at one time.
