Location of proposed Haut-Katanga province in the Democratic Republic of the Congo

Haut-Katanga Province is a proposed province of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, originally due to be established when the country's new constitution was implemented in February 2009.[1] The new province was to consist of the Haut-Katanga District and the cities of Lubumbashi and Likasi. Lubumbashi would be the capital.[2] As of October 2010, the new province had not yet come into existence.[3] In September 2011 the position of "Minister of Decentralization" was abolished. This was the minister responsible for implementing the new provinces.[4]
