Overview

<templatestyles src="Module:Hatnote/styles.css"></templatestyles>

References are shown by adding the <references /> tag or the {{reflist}} template.

Issues and resolution

Parameters such as style or id were passed to the <references /> tag. Only the group parameter is allowed. Using the {{reflist}} template will avoid most of the possible issues with the <references /> tag. See the documentation for details.

Since the addition of reference groups, this error should no longer be invoked— the message Invalid parameter: use the {{reflist}} template with the group parameter (see the help page). will be displayed. If you encounter this error, please report it on the talk page.
