"I Always Get What I Want" is a song by Canadian singer-songwriter Avril Lavigne, written by herself and Clif Magness for her second studio album, Under My Skin (2004). The track was released digitally on May 24, 2004 by Arista Records as a promotional tool for the album, which was released on the next day.[1][3]

The song was re-released on November 4, 2004 as the B-side of album's third single, "Nobody's Home".[4] It was also featured in the film The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement, whose soundtrack was released on August 3, 2004.[5]

Live performances

"I Always Get What I Want" appeared on Lavigne's setlists for her several worldwide tours, including Bonez Tour (2004–05), The Best Damn World Tour (2008), The Black Star Tour (2011–12) and The Avril Lavigne Tour (2013–14).
