International Speakers Bureau is a Dallas, Texas-based speakers bureau specializing in motivational speakers, corporate entertainment and corporate training.

History

International Speakers Bureau was founded in 1992 by Michelle Lemmons-Poscente, who started the business in a spare bedroom in her parent’s home eventually landing her first booking of the late Charles Kuralt a few months later.

In 1993, Lemmons-Poscente moved her offices to Dallas and began to expand the business. The company grew quickly in large part due to Lemmons-Poscente's early adoption of the internet.[citation needed] In 1997, the company was recognized as one of the Top Female Run Businesses in Texas and also partnered with Yahoo! to create Mentorium, an early attempt at interactive online learning.

In 2000, the company won the Sprint #1 Small Business in America award[1] and was recognized by Bank One as one of the top female-owned businesses in the United States.[citation needed]

International Speakers Bureau filed for bankruptcy in 2013 in the state of Texas.
