J. Ernest Phythian

John Ernest Phythian (2 August 1858 – 31 March 1935) was an English solicitor, journalist, art critic, university extension lecturer, and lay preacher.
Biography
J. Ernest Phythian was born in Manchester, the youngest and eighth child of Joseph Phythian, a smallware manufacturer, and his wife, Alice (née Townsend). In 1887, he married Ada Prichard Crompton. The couple had one daughter, Labour politician Mabel Tylecote.
