Jimmy Amadie
Jimmy Amadie (January 5, 1937 – December 10, 2013) was a jazz musician from Philadelphia.[1] He was a music educator known for his bebop style of piano-playing. He worked with such luminaries as Coleman Hawkins, Mel Tormé, Woody Herman. For much of his career his severe tendinitis limited his playing ability to a few minutes per month, but his passion for jazz history and theory energized his teaching and inspired many others.[citation needed]
Amadie died of lung cancer on December 10, 2013 at the age of 76.
