Joseph Desmares

Toussaint-Guy-Joseph Desmares CO (Latin: Tussanus Des Mares; 17 February 1603 – 19 January 1687) was a French Roman Catholic priest and Jansenist theologian.
Biography
Joseph Desmares was born at Vire. A Jansenist, he was harassed throughout his life for his opinions. Desmares was one of the best preachers of his time. Nicolas Boileau said of him: "Desmares in Saint-Roch would not have preached better". He published a large number of controversial works.
