KGON (92.3 FM) is a radio station broadcasting a classic rock format. The station also broadcasts in HD Radio, featuring live rock performances. Licensed to Portland, Oregon, USA, the station serves the Portland Oregon and Vancouver, Washington area. The station is owned by Entercom.[1] The studios are located south of downtown Portland, and the transmitter site is in the city's Southwest Hills district.

Station history

Originally having signed on the air in 1967 as KLIQ-FM, KGON would begin its life as an AOR on February 1, 1974, with "Here Comes the Sun" by The Beatles as its first song being played on the station.[2] It would continue in this direction until October 1992 when it shifted to its current classic rock direction.
