History

The station began broadcasting on Christmas Eve in 1965. Until January 31, 2015, the station played easy listening music, and featured John Doremus' program Patterns in Music, weeknights from 7 to 10 pm.[6] The original station's easy listening music was heard once again on Christmas Eve of 2015, fifty years to the day after their first terrestrial radio broadcast. 97FIVE can now be heard streaming online, at: http://www.97five.com/play/

While operating as a beautiful music station, KNXR had a very devoted following.[7]
