Company overview
The Toronto-based company KineticD was originally named Digital Deposit Box[1] and founded in 2002.[2] In 2011 KineticD merged with ROBOBAK, which extended its place in the SaaS market into providing services to larger enterprise VARs and IT consultants.[3] The acquisition began in late 2010 and was finalized in March 2011.[2] The first CEO of KineticD is Jamie Brenzel,[4] and the current president of the company is Troy Cheeseman.[5]
Software
The company deploys software including KineticCloud Backup, which backs up the webservers and hard-drives of a company and is able to restore servers to pre-crash or problem conditions.[6] They also back up Managed service providers in particular,[7] and their software is compatible with all PCs, Macs, servers and databases.[8][9] KineticFAM allows the backup of Outlook and all Windows programs because of its Windows certification.[10] It is also compatible with thumbdrives and other separate storage devices.[1] KineticD programs also have remote control capability in their iPhone and Web versions, in order to sync smart phones to a customer's main harddrives.[11] The program runs in the background of a computer, backing up documents after each new save, and allows the file-sharing of backed up data.[1] The company also issues reports on current events in the industry, such as the 2011 loss of financial data by the Federal Government of Canada.[12]
