Leukophobia is a fear of the color white.[1]

Scope

The scope of this condition often comes in the form of a fixation on the skin complexion. Its divergence into a psychiatric diagnosis is when implausible assumptions are made about its implications such as paleness necessarily representing ill health, a ghost or some other mythological white entity.[2] The other derivative has come in use in the sense of an abnormal aggravated hike in reverse racism.[3] Another scope is directed more towards the symbolic meaning of whiteness, for instance by individuals who believe the color white symbolizes chastity and simultaneously are opposed to or fear chastity.[4]

Specifics

As a subclass of chromophobia it may be caused by bad experiences with winter sport activities, most of which are involve the color white due to snow and women who fear about marriage, because white is the usual color of bridal dress. Leukophobia sufferers would want to live in a darker, colorful home and wear colorful clothes while not drinking milk (unless flavored) nor taking prescription pills that are white. Those people may suffer anxiety (like feeling trapped or restlessness) when encountering a lot of white, like in a white room or out in the snow. Behavioral therapy is a method used to treat leukophobia. In this therapy, a therapist teaches a patient not to fear about the color and then fix the problem using the known cause.[5][6]
