Llanelly and District Electric Tramways operated a tramway service in Llanelli between 1908 and 1933.[1]

History

Under the Llanelly and District Light Railway Order of 1907, the horse-drawn tramways operated by the Llanelly Tramways were taken over by the Llanelly and District Electric Tramways which undertook a programme of modernisation and electrification.

In 1910 the North Dock Power Station was completed, and this and the tramway system was estimated to cost about £68,000.

The first electric services started in 1911.

The company name changed in 1924 to the Llanelly Electric Lighting and Traction Company.

Closure

Services ceased on 16 February 1933.
