MAREA

MAREA is a planned 6,600 kilometers long transatlantic communications cable between Virginia, USA and Bilbao, Spain by Microsoft and Facebook. The maximum throughput of MAREA will be 160 terabits per second. Operations will be handled by Telxius, a subsidiary of Spanish telecom Telefónica. Construction will take place between August 2016 and October 2017. The name MAREA is Spanish for tide.[1]
