Martin Skotnický (born August 1947)[1] is a former Czechoslovak ice dancer. With his sister Diana Skotnická, he is the 1970 Winter Universiade champion and a five-time Czechoslovak national champion (1970–74). They placed sixth at the 1973 European Championships and eighth at the 1973 World Championships.
Career
Skotnický switched from single skating to ice dancing after a fracture.[2] He teamed up with his sister, Diana Skotnická. Their coaches included Ivan Mauer, Hilda Múdra, and Míla Nováková.[2][3] The siblings competed five times at the World Championships and four times at the European Championships. Their best results came in 1973 when they placed sixth at Europeans and eighth at Worlds.
In 1975, Skotnický became director of a figure skating rink in Metz, France.[2] In the early 1980s, he was an assistant coach for British ice dancers Jayne Torvill / Christopher Dean.[2] He now coaches in Oberstdorf, Germany.[4] He has worked with:

Personal life
Skotnický has Slovak and French citizenship.[2] He is the brother of Diana Skotnická.[2] He is married to Bruni Skotnicky, who competed in pair skating for Germany as Brunhilde Baßler.[8]
