Biography
Mats Valk held the world record on the 3×3×3 cube: single speed solve with a time of 5.55 seconds between 2013 and 2015.[1] He is also the former world record holder on the 4x4 cube single speed solve and average of 5 solves. Valk also currently holds multiple Dutch and European records for World Cube Association-hosted events such as 2x2 cube, 4x4 cube, 5x5 cube, 3x3 cube one-handed, Square-1, 6x6 cube, 7x7 cube, and Skewb.[2] Mats Valk solves the 3x3 with the green or blue face on top. He is also the creator of VLS (Valks Last Slot), a set of algorithms that solves the orientation of the last layer (OLL) while inserting the last corner-edge pair of the first two layers (F2L).[3]
