Michael Rosenthal (born 20 May 1990) is a male water polo player from the United States.[1] He is part of the United States men's national water polo team and plays on club level for USC Trojans.

Career

He joined the American National Cadet team back in 2004 and competed in Hungary. He played his first season for the "redshirting" USC Trojansin 2008 and won four consecutive national titles with the Trojans as an active player. Rosenthal was awarded in 2008 as the Miami Herald Water Polo Player of the Year and Swimmer of the Year as a senior out of Ransom Everglades High.[2] He continued winning and won with the USC Trojans the national championships in 2013. In 2013 Rosenthal was the third-highest scoring Trojan in his senior season, scoring a career-high 31 goals on the way to an undefeated season. He capped off the stellar campaign with a hat trick in the national championship game to earn MVP honors in the tournament. He scored in 19 of the Trojans’ 29 contests in this season, seven of which were multi-goal efforts.

In 2013 he made his debut for the United States men's national water polo team[3] and had competed as of July 2013 in 11 matches, scoring 23 goals. He competed in the super final at the 2013 FINA Men's Water Polo World League, finishing fourth and at the 2013 World Aquatics Championships in Barcelona, Spain, where they finished in 9th place.[4]

Clubs

On club level he playes for USC Trojans since 2008. When he was younger he played for Florida Coast and Raider.

Personal Life

His father Dan, mother Meredidth and sister Madeline were all water polo players and also played for USC Trojans. Rosenthal is majoring in human performance and minoring in business and aims for a career in physical therapy.
