The Museum of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg, Florida, USA, opened to the public in 1965. It was established by Margaret Acheson Stuart (1896–1980).
The museum displays thousands of objects from early antiquity to the present day– one of the most comprehensive art collections on Florida’s west coast. Highlights include masterpieces from Claude Monet, Paul Cézanne, Pierre-Auguste Renoir and others, a sculpture garden, a Steuben glass gallery and one of Florida’s most respected photography collections.
A $21 million expansion broke ground on Monday, December 4, 2006 and more than doubled the size of the museum. The new 33,000 square-foot Hazel Hough wing, on the north side of the building, was finished in 2008.[1][2] The expansion included a new cafe, an enlarged library and a bigger museum shop.
