One Man Dog is singer-songwriter James Taylor's fourth studio album. Released in 1972, it features the hit "Don't Let Me Be Lonely Tonight", which peaked at #14 on the Billboard charts on January 13, 1973. The follow-up single, "One Man Parade", also charted but less successfully, peaking at #67 in the U.S. and reaching #55 on the Canadian Adult Contemporary chart.[1] It was a concept album[clarification needed] primarily recorded in Taylor's home studio. James' sister Kate Taylor performs a verse and provides backing vocals on "One Morning In May", and Taylor's previous album is referenced in the lyrics of "Woh, Don't You Know". First pressings of the album had the title printed only on the spine, while subsequent pressings added the blue typeface to the front image.
The album is made up of 18 short pieces strung together. It climbed to #4 on the US Billboard Pop Albums chart. Most records were in Quadraphonic sound.[citation needed]
