Papyrus Oxyrhynchus 80
Papyrus Oxyrhynchus 80 (P. Oxy. 80) is a police report, written in Greek. The manuscript was written on papyrus in the form of a sheet. It was discovered by Grenfell and Hunt in 1897 in Oxyrhynchus. The document was written between 238-244. Currently it is housed in the library of the Winchester College in Winchester. The text was published by Grenfell and Hunt in 1898.[1]
The report is addressed to the chiefs of the police at Oxyrhynchus. Probably it was written by a local inspector (ἀρχέφοδος), whose name is unknown. The measurements of the fragment are 168 by 70 mm.[2]
