Proscaline, or 4-propoxy-3,5-DMPEA is a psychedelic and hallucinogenic drug, used by some as an entheogen. It has structural and pharmacodynamic properties similar to the drugs mescaline, isoproscaline, and escaline.

Chemistry
Proscaline is in a class of compounds commonly known as phenethylamines, and is the 4-propyloxy homologue of mescaline. The full name of the chemical is 4-propyloxy-3,5-dimethoxyphenethylamine.
Effects
Proscaline produces psychedelic effects that can last 12 hours.
Pharmacology
The mechanism that produces proscaline’s hallucinogenic and entheogenic effects is unknown, though is most likely attributable to 5HT2A and 5HT2C receptor agonism, among others.
Popularity
Proscaline has been virtually unknown on any of the "markets". But now (December, 2015) it is sold openly on the "white market" in the countrys where it is legal. It may have been virtually unknown. This, however, is not the case anymore as it is very easy to come by at some of the more serious/well-sorted research-chemical resellers. Limited accounts of proscaline can be found in journal articles, and in the book PiHKAL (Phenethylamines i Have Known And Loved).
Since the selling of this substance began by this research-chemical vendors there is substansually more to read (if not pure science reports on what the substance does physically, more of a "trip report" nature about how the substance work mentally are a lot of text and writing by various "psychonauts".
This substance is very welcomed in a lot of the Neoshaman-communitys. (As with most of the Entheogens, Empathogens and other mind altering substances in the Tryptamin and Phenetylamines. It deserves to point out that some Shamanistic branches never use any substance period. And some only 100% natural occuring substances!) But the main point is that this is more of a tool, and probably used in majority as such. And hence, actually should be thought of as such.
Legality
Proscaline is unscheduled and unregulated in the United States.
