Chris Orrick, better known by his stage name Red Pill,[1] is an American rapper and lyricist from Detroit, Michigan.[2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10][11] After starting his career collaborating with Michigan music collective BLAT! Pack, in 2010 he released his debut album Please Tip Your Driver to a positive reception. The album was followed by a number of collaborations and[8] the EP Dream Within a Dream in 2012,[9] and the album The Kick in 2013.[9] According to HipHopDX, The Kick documented "relatable topics to anyone with everyday problems."[12]
In 2013, rapper Verbal Kent, Red Pill and producer Apollo Brown formed the group Ugly Heroes,[2] and they released their self-titled debut in May 2013 through Mello Music Group.[2] PopMatters called the album "one of the better hip-hop records of 2013."[11] Red Pill's solo album Look What This World Did To Us was released on April 7, 2015 through Mello Music Group.[9] The album was generally well-received, with Exclaim! opining that the lyrics "range from deeply intimate, to unflinchingly grim, to hilariously self-deprecating, often in the same bar."[5][1][12]
