Saunda is a census town in Patratu (community development block) of Ramgarh district in the Indian state of Jharkhand.

Demographics
As of 2001[update] India census,[2] Saunda had a population of 85,037. Males constitute 55% of the population and females 45%. Saunda has an average literacy rate of 63%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 71%, and female literacy is 53%. In Saunda, 14% of the population is under 6 years of age.
As per 2011 Census of India Saunda had a population of 81,915. There were 43,425 males and 38,490 females. Scheduled Castes numbered 14,717 and Scheduled Tribes numbered 13,602.[3]
Literacy
As per 2011 census the total number of literates in Saunda was 57,831 out of which 33,463 were males and 24,368 were females.[3]
Economy
Central Saunda underground, Saunda D underground and Saunda underground coal mines are operational under Barka Sayal area of Central Coalfields Limited,[4]
