Scooby-Doo! and WWE: Curse of the Speed Demon is the twenty-sixth film in the direct-to-video series of Scooby-Doo films. It is a co-production between Warner Bros. Animation and WWE Studios. The film will be a direct sequel to Scooby-Doo! WrestleMania Mystery. It will be released on August 8, 2016 in the United Kingdom by Warner Home Video and WWE Home Video.
Synopsis
It's pedal to the metal as Scooby-Doo, Shaggy and the gang team up with the superstars of WWE in this hi-octane, original movie! When Scooby and Mystery Inc. visit an off-road racing competition, it's not long before strange events start to occur. A mysterious phantom racer, known only as Inferno, is causing chaos and determined to sabotage the race. It's up Scooby-Doo, Shaggy and their new driving partner, The Undertaker, to save the race and solve the mystery. Along with other WWE superstars such as Triple H, Paige and Sheamus, it's time to start your engine and your appetite because Scooby-Doo and WWE are chasing down adventure and laughs just for you!
Production
On September 15, 2014, WWE and Warner Bros. announced a direct sequel to WrestleMania Mystery to be released in 2016. In February, 2016, it was announced it will be named Scooby-Doo! and WWE: Curse of the Speed Demon.[2] Hulk Hogan was billed to be prominently featured in the cast of characters including Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns.[3] However, on July 23, 2015, WWE terminated their contract with Hogan due to racist comments, leaving speculation as to his appearance in the film. It is the third co-production between Warner Bros. Animation and WWE Studios after Scooby-Doo! WrestleMania Mystery and The Flintstones & WWE: Stone Age SmackDown!.
The film is set to be released on August 8, 2016 in the UK.[4]
Follow-up film
Scooby-Doo! Wild West is set to be released in 2017.[5][6]
