Early years
Hannah attended Valley View High School. He accepted a scholarship from Michigan State University where he was a four-years starter at left tackle and received second team All-Big Ten honors as a junior and senior.[1][2] He also tied the school record for most starts (44) by an offensive lineman.
Professional career
Dallas Cowboys
He was selected in the second round of the 1995 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys. Although he played offensive tackle in college, he was drafted to play offensive guard. As a rookie he tore the knee ligaments in his right knee two weeks into training camp and was placed on the injured reserve.[3] The next year he came back out of shape and overweight, which created tension with his coaches, that eventually led to his decision to quit the team during preseason and announce his retirement from pro football.[4]
After spending a year out of football, the Cowboys gave him a second chance in 1997,[5] but was released before the season started.
New York Jets
The New York Jets signed him to their practice squad on September 24, 1997.[6] He was waived on October 20.[7]
Carolina Panthers
In 1998, he signed with the Carolina Panthers, but was released before the season started.[8]
