About
"SONGS & WHISPERS" is a concert series which has been brought into existence by the collaboration of the record label DANDYLAND and the promotion agency [ps]promotion. Mainly, they are putting on live shows in north-west Germany and western neighbours like Belgium and the Netherlands with international and local artist covering the genres Alternative Folk, Alternative Country, Americana, Bluegrass, Singer-Songwriter. The agency [ps] promotion has been running the international music network “SONGS & WHISPERS” since January 2009, cooperating with several German and European/international partners. Their focus is acoustic music in many different ways: from solo-artists to ensembles the size of an orchestra. The aim of "SONGS & WHISPERS" is to connect and support musicians worldwide through different formats. The “SONG” in its many forms is the focus of their networking. The network consists of the following elements:
CIRCUITS
A monthly concert series through the northwest of Europe over 25 days. Usually, two to three artists per CIRCUIT are introduced. The concerts are generally free to attract more people. About 30 locations take part in the CIRCUIT and the different artists play there regularly every month. The whole concert series is planned and organised by the agency [ps] promotion. SONGS & WHISPERS does the complete work: they have the editorial staff and do the planning of the programme, the press work and communication. "SONGS & WHISPERS" looks after the artists, takes care of the technical elements as well as the accommodation for the artists.
PRESENTS
Individual tours through the north-west of Europe for selected artists, after having completed a CIRCUIT. Often, these tours go along with a CD release.
LABEL
A professional record LABEL which distributes CD’s as well as downloads worldwide via their partners Cargo Records and Zebralution.
FESTIVALS
Self-organised FESTIVALS or performances at events like Breminale or the Festival Maritim, two festivals in Bremen. For these festivals, artists from the CIRCUIT and the PRESENTS concerts meet several times per year and tour together.
SPECIAL
SPECIAL events take place in exclusive locations like philharmonic concerthalls. They are extensively promoted and documented. Some SPECIALS take place in Paris, London and other European cities and are supervised by local artists.
SCHOOL
An “Edutainment” – programme which enables direct interaction between artists and pupils from grade 6 to 13. The pupils work together with the artist and are encouraged to discover their own musical potential. The artists perform in schools and the pupils perform at regular concerts in the evening.
STUDIO
A professional recording STUDIO which the artists are free to use. The “pay as much as you like” approach is symbolic with the philosophy and motivation.
RECOMMENDS
"S&W" RECOMMENDS is a format to promote shows by bands who are friends of the network.
