As of 2014, Switzerland appeared at three UEFA European Championships, between 1996 and 2008 (when they co-hosted the event). They never survived the first round of a European end stage so far, but achieved one win in 2008 when they defeated Portugal (2–0), the European vice-champion at that moment.
