Syed Zainul Abedin is the Dewan (spiritual head)[1] of the Ajmer Sharif Dargah[2][3] founded by Khawaja Moinuddin Chishti (Khwaja Gareeb Nawaz), according to the APEX Court of India.[4][5] [6][7][8][9] He is the successor of Khwaja Gareeb Nawaz,[5][6][7][8][9][10] and is also known as Dargah Dewan (Dewan of Dargah),[11] successor, Sajjadanashin (current head) of the Chishti order of Sufism,[12] Gaddinashin, Pir and Sheikhul Mashaeikh Dewan Syed Zainul Abedin Ali Khan Sahib of the Ajmer Sharif Dargah.[11][12][13]

Family

He is the direct descendant in the 22nd generation of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti.[14] Meanwhile, according to the APEX Court of India he is the Hereditary Sajjadanashin Spiritual Head of the shrine of Ajmer Dargah. On the other hand, in the aspect of gynecological lineage (family tree); presently he is the most direct descendant of Khawaja Moinuddin Chishti.[15][5][6][7][8][9]

Activities

He used to visit and speak publicly at various shrines and other places in India and abroad, on religious and national political affairs.[1][16] Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray said he should be awarded the Bharat Ratna award[16] for his activities.[2]
