Tawny Newsome
Tawny Newsome is an American comedian and actress best known for playing Chelsea Leight-Leigh on Bajillion Dollar Properties and co-hosting the podcast Yo, Is This Racist?. Originally from California, Newsome attended theater school in Chicago, where she started her comedy career with Second City.[1] She currently resides in Los Angeles.
Career
Newsome's first major television roles were as Chelsea Leight-Leigh on Bajillion Dollar Propertie$ and Nina on The Comedy Get Down.[2] She has also been in the main cast of Brockmire since its third season.[3] She is slated to appear in a number of series debuting in 2020, including the CBS All Access series Star Trek: Lower Decks[4] and the Netflix series Space Force.[5] She was also cast in the upcoming ABC pilot Woman Up[6].
Newsome has been a co-host of the podcast Yo, Is This Racist alongside Andrew Ti since 2018.[7] She also appears as a frequent guest on podcasts such as Comedy Bang! Bang! and Spontaneanation with Paul F. Tompkins.[8][9].
Newsome is also a musician and is a member of the band Four Lost Souls alongside Jon Langford, Bethany Thomas, and John Szymanski.[10] The group released a debut self-titled album in 2017.[11]
