The Fits is a 2015 American drama film directed by Anna Rose Holmer. The film premiered at the 2015 Venice Film Festival and was selected to take part in the 2016 Sundance Film Festival. Oscilloscope Laboratories obtained U.S. distribution rights to the film before its Sundance debut.[1]
Plot
While training at the gym 11 year old tomboy Toni becomes entranced with a dance troupe. As she struggles to fit in she finds herself caught up in danger as the group begins to suffer from fainting spells and other violent fits.
Reception
The Fits received mostly positive reviews after its debut. David Rooney writing for The Hollywood Reporter called it a "small-scale but captivating first feature".[2] Similarly a critic for Variety called it as a "promising debut feature" and all praised it for its "meticulous mood of psychological isolation and beguiling mystery."[3]
